Little Learners British Nursery

Little Learners is a new British Nursery which will open its doors on September 2013. We put it down to simple things such as the quality of our staff, dedication, understanding and sheer passion for what we do. The spacious building and grounds allow for facilities to be separate enough to concentrate on key areas, but part of one unit to ensure a continual care and development for your children.

Our Beliefs
We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill his / hers full potential.

We believe that a safe, secure and happy childhood is important, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their talents and abilities as they grow up. Children have opportunities to experience and develop in all the areas, through a balance of child initiated and adult led activities.

We believe that children are only this special age once and we feel it is important not to rush childhood. Our ethos ‘Learning through play’ is designed to nurture each child's talents, support weaknesses and establish the path to formalized learning.

We believe your child is completely unique. We want to get to know you and your child really well so that your child feels secure and happy and you feel confident and relaxed leaving him / her in our nursery.

We believe that ‘teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning’. Our team consists of experienced teachers in working with children using the British curriculum.

Our Aims
We want the children to be sociable and to have high self-esteem, to enjoy books and stories, to learn about numbers and how to solve problems, to find out about the world and environment around them.

  • To teach children to learn through play. This method encourages the children to develop skills and to learn by examples whilst playing, thus making the learning process both fun and enjoyable. We believe in giving your child the best possible opportunity to progress and develop their skills.
  • To form a strong relationships with parents and children. Parents can be confident that their child is seen as an individual: each child has their own key person to help understand their needs and build a special relationship with them.
  • To create indoor and outdoor environments which are age appropriate, well maintained, and accessible for all the children. They give opportunities for a wide range of planned and free play activities where the children can explore a safe, secure and challenging environment.

British Curriculum
At Little Learners we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS). The overarching aim of the EYFS is to help young children to achieve the five 'Every Child Matters' outcomes: feel safe, adopt healthy lifestyles, achieve and enjoy, make a positive contribution and develop skills for the future.

It focuses on four themes:
A Unique Child - Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships - Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
Enabling Environments - The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.
Learning and Development - Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.

At Little Learners, we know that choosing a nursery is one of the most important decisions that you make, so we recommend that you do not make this decision lightly.
